- Per letter invitation of Mr. Luis Abano, one of the
organizers of the newly formed Chamber of Mines in Camarines
Norte, a conference on developing the iron industry was held at
Karilagan Hotel last June 2, 2004. Among the objectives of the
conference is to fast track possible development of iron
industry in Camarines Norte and possible unification of
claimowners, investors and other stakeholders in Camarines
Norte.
Lecture
discussion was focused on the following topics: mineral
potential of iron ore deposit in Camarines Norte which was
presented by Chief, Geology Division of MGB-V Mr. Arnel Jusi;
tenement data status by OIC, MMD Ricardo Nacional and the
permitting requirements by Chief, MESD Sulpicio B. Bernardo III.
Invited guest, Mr. Martin Skinner, United Kingdom Trade and Investment
Export Adviser to the Philippines and Vietnam actively participated and
explained the role of the UK Trade and Investment Development
Group of the British government in arranging for the entry, and
multibillion dollars and euro investment and operations of the
many British companies in local economy and varied industries. Also in attendance are representatives from LGU and local DTI
representatives.
