On November 28th,
marked the 105th anniversary of the Mines and Geosciences
Bureau (MGB) and its regional office in Bicol (MGB-V), thru the
leadership of Regional Director Reynulfo A. Juan, made an elaborate
preparation for its observance. A reunion inviting former
employees of the bureau and a photo, posters, rocks and ore, technical
reports and memorabilia exhibit highlighted the celebration. The program also includes a
Eucharistic celebration, launching of the exhibit, lunch,
selection/announcement of winners in the photo contest and get together. The photo exhibit dubbed
“MGB-V through the years” showed an array of old and recent photos
that dates back in the 1960 to 1986 under the term of RD Pedro C. Caleon
(former RED/ASEC of the DENR) and now a retiree, RD Pedro L. De Leon –
1986 to 1988, RD Leonardo S. Antonio – 1988 to 1989, Alberto G.
Jasareno – 1989 to 1991, RD Jose O. Carranceja – 1991 to 1995, RD
Salvador G. Martin – 1996 to 1998 and RD Reynulfo A. Juan – 1995 to
1996 and 1998 to present. In the photo contest, the
winners were: Roberto Baay (Best Caption) for his entry entitled “Bomberos”,
Alberto Quintela (Oldest Photo) for his “The Pioneer”, Arlene
Laviste (Best Presentation - Sports Category) “IEC”, Eduardo Avila
(Best Presentation – Office Category) “Centinnial Anniversary”,
Imelda Ferrandez (Best Presentation – Socials) “Cha-Cha
Instructor”, Saturnino Baptista (Fieldwork Category) “ Pass and
Review” and Marcel Laud
(Other Category) “Basureros”. Baay and Quintela each won P
1,000.00 as cash prizes while the rest got P500.00 each. PHOTO DOCUMENTATION
Meanwhile, in the morning of
November 28, the Malacañang Sa Kabikolan radio and TV program was
launched at the Session Hall, Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Albay, Albay
Capitol in Legazpi City with RD Juan and Info. Officer II Luis D. Valdez
attending. The program, which was launched
in cooperation with the Pilipinas Broadcasting Network, served as a
conduit of the present administration in Bicol to know the problems,
thru the different government line agency, beseething the Bicolanos. The Launching was
spearheaded by USEC for Bicol Affairs Mario Espinosa and the
Presidential Management Staff in Bicol with Regional Directors and the
Information Officers of the different government line agencies in Bicol
in attendance. |
