Daraga, Albay (April 15, 2004) - For
the year 2003, Albay Province leads in the production of
aggregates (non-metallic) valued at around Php8,846,685.50
followed by Camarines Norte- P5,078,437.50, Masbate-P581,
735.25, Sorsogon-P443, 315.00, Catanduanes-P335, 012.50 and
Camarines Sur-P192, 950.00.
Record showed Albay
produced 161,500.00 cubic meters of sand and gravel valued at
around P7,101,761.00, boulder-P8,700.00 cu.m. (P395,575.00),
earthfill-33, 870.00 cu.m. (P1,120,506.50), pebbles-150 cu.m.
(P37, 500.00), and Selected Aggregates Base Coarse (SABC)-7,000.00
cu. m. (P191,
343.00); Camarines Norte-67,712.50 cu. m. (sand and gravel);
Masbate-7, 756.47 cu.m. (sand and gravel); Sorsogon-2,823.00 cu.
m. of sand and gravel valued at P424,815.00, SABC-200.00 cu.m.
(P6, 000.00) and earthfill-450.00 cu. m. (P12, 500.00;
Catanduanes-13, 400 cu.m. of sand and gravel and Camarines
Sur-3,859.00 cu.m. (sand and gravel).

In term of sales, Albay
realized some P12, 308,413.00 in sales out of the total cubic
meters of aggregates it has produced followed again by Camarines
Norte-P6, 771,250.00, Masbate-P1, 144,591.00, Sorsogon-P580,
609.00, Catanduanes-P566, 675.00 and Camarines Sur-P385, 900.00.
Camarines Norte, on the
other hand, is the leading producer of gold and silver for the
same year. The province produced and sold 11.16223 kilograms of
gold valued at P6, 892,620.58 and 1.89401 kgs. of silver valued
at P7,070.31. Johson Gold Mining Corporation in Luklukan Norte,
Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte is credited with these metallic
production and sales since it is the only well documented metal
producer in the region. None of these metallic minerals is
produce by the other provinces in the meantime.
In terms of percentage
contribution to mineral production and sale by mineral commodity
(mineral values), metallic production and sales contribution is
P6, 899,690.89 (production
and sales) or 9.68 percent while non-metallic at
P48,967,089.75 (production) and P64,381,872.00 (sales) or 90.32
